Are my deposits insured?
Yes;  South Sound Bank is a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).  FDIC insurance covers all deposit accounts, including checking and savings accounts, money market deposit accounts, and Certificates of Deposit.  FDIC Insurance does not cover other financial products and services that banks may offer, such as stocks, bonds, mutual fund shares, life insurance policies, annuities or securities.

Your account number is the middle set of numbers along the bottom of the checks.

Which holidays are observed by South Sound Bank?
South Sound Bank adheres to the holiday closures determined by the Federal Reserve.
The closures for 2013 are as follows:
    • New Year's Day (January 1)
    • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (January 21)
    • Presidents' Day (February 18)
    • Memorial Day (May 27)
    • Independence Day (July 4)
    • Labor Day (September 2)
    • Columbus Day (October 14)
    • Veterans Day (November 11)
    • Thanksgiving Day (November 28)
    • Christmas Day (December 25)


Does the Bank sell federal Savings Bonds?
No; Bonds can no longer be purchased at the branches; rather they are now purchased on TreasuryDirect.  For ordering and more information, please visit www.treasurydirect.gov, call 800-553-2663, or write to: Series EE and I, Bureau of Public Debt, Division of Customer Assistance, PO Box 7015, Parkersburg, WV. 26106-7015

While Bonds can no longer be purchased at the Bank, they still can be redeemed.

How do I activate my VISA® Check Card and/or ATM Card?
You may call the toll free phone number on the sticker on the front of the new card, activate it at one of our ATMs, or come into one of our branches.

What are the Bank's daily cut-off times?
For Online Banking and Bill Pay services: 5:00 pm
For Wire Transfers (both foreign & domestic): 12:00 noon

How frequently is my information updated?
Your account information is updated as transactions occur.

How do I change my address and/or phone number on my account(s)?
You may change your address, e-mail address, and/or phone number by simply filling out this form and bringing it in to one of our branches or submitting it by mail. 

How can I stop a payment?
You may request stop payment services for a check or ACH item that has not already been accepted by South Sound Bank for processing. A stop payment order will be in effect for six months, and a fee will be charged to your account. For more information please contact us.

I need to reorder checks, can I reorder online?
Yes; if there are no changes needing to be made to your checks (e.g. new address, new phone number, name change, etc.), you may reorder checks by clicking here.  If there is a change of check content, please stop by and talk with one of our personal bankers.

Do you offer notary services?
Yes; there are public notaries at each of our branch locations.

Is there a fee to use Online Banking and Bill Pay services?
No; at South Sound Bank, it is our goal to give you the most money-managing resources at the lowest cost.  That is why we offer you - our clients - the possibility to enroll in Online Banking and Bill Pay free of charge.

Does South Sound Bank offer direct deposit?
Yes; direct deposit is a safe and convenient way to have your payroll, Social Security, VA benefits, or retirement check automatically deposited to your South Sound Bank personal checking or savings account.

Can I rent a Safe Deposit Box?
South Sound Bank does offer our customers a place to store and protect thier valuables and important papers.  At each of our branches, we offer a variety of sizes including: 3x5, 3x10, 5x10, and 10x10.  Our Charter and Gold customers receive a 30% discount on the annual lease.

Is there a secure way to drop off my deposits after hours?
We offer night depositories at our branches - accessed through our drive-up - as well as two offsite locations located at:

  • Memorial Medical Plaza -- 500 Lilly Road NE, Olympia, WA. 98506
  • Tenino IGA Market Fresh -- 669 Lincoln Avenue E, Tenino, WA. 98589

These options provide safety, security, and convenience by not having to get out of your vehicle or drive to a branch.  Simply put your deposit in an envelope, drop it in the depository, and the deposit will be processed on the next business day.

Can I wire transfer funds to and from South Sound Bank?
We offer our customers the services to wire transfer funds to and from their accounts both domestically and internationally.  There is a nominal fee and - in most instances - the money is received the same day.

I'm going on vacation; can I purchase Travelers Cheques at the Bank?
Yes; American Express® Travelers Cheques are a safe way to carry cash while you are on vacations or business trips.  South Sound Bank offers Cheques in $20, $50, and $100 denominations.  Our Charter and Gold customers may purchase Travelers Cheques without a fee.
